Recently, one of my Penang friend came down and we arrange a gathering. Instead of heading to our usual favourite Taiwanese Steamboat place, Gods Kitchen @ Publika, we decided to try this place out. The HOTpot in Publika because they do serve vegetarian soup (Miso Soup base) as one of our friend is vegetarian.
As walk into the place, it is an interior that is rather simple and direct. With a few tables in place, it is best advise to make a reservation.
Looking at the menu, it is slightly expensive. (maybe because they are in Publika)
Order the double soup base @ RM 38 with any mix of 2 flavours. We chose Malat and their original pork bone soup. As they are Hong Kong Steamboat, taste certainly is slightly milder but the taste of both soup is quite flat.
Ingredient is pretty direct and simple. The ball series ranges from RM 10 – RM 25. Lotus root is a rip off as serve with the illusion looks like a full slice but it is only half. Estimated about 5-7 slices for RM 8.
Cheese Fu chuk @ RM 12. Does not make sense to me as the cheese fu chuk went into the pot and its all gone. Mostly left fu chuk. Maybe we did the wrong way.
ma lat is not spicy or herby in taste. This soup base is out for us (or could be good for first timer or those who cant take spicy) Pork bone soup is just normal.
Overall, food is so so, nothing to shout about as it is quite expensive from the ingredient we choose. Worst of all, the set back as below:
1. service were messy as there are only 2 floor staff. Told them to serve the order according to table but came out random
2. Serving us the food that we did not order, told them to bring it back.
3. Charge us the food that the order did not arrive where the waitress said is in their output order receipt.
4. Charge us extra 4 glass of green tea which we only of 9 pax order 7 glass only and each glass of green tea is RM 8, that is additional RM 32++ extra
Just imagine that if you did not check the receipt, you would have been blindly paid extra. My bill came about from RM 580 down to RM 520 which is about near RM 60 per head. Hence Fei Fan Hotpot / Taiwanese Gods pot Hotpot beats this place easily.
the place is actually not bad. and my ratings is actually to give 6/10. With the 4 set backs, the ratings for this outlet will get only 4/10
I am not the right target market for this place.
