When it comes to street food, there is one famous street food in KL that is particularly famous among to some of the locals here. There is one stall that is even famous till some of my foreign friends are asking about them. This is da Famous Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee at Chow Kit, KL.
This would be my first time at their original branch to try it out. Usually I had it in their Publika foodcourt outlet and was told there is something missing. Since now my new office is just a stone throw away from this place, definitely drop by to check it out.
建記辣椒板麵 Chili Pan Mee
a kind of simple street food that can satisfy your cravings. A hand roll dough that turn into noodle, cook in a hot boiling water, topped with mince meat, anchovies, chives and of course half boil egg.
If you are here for pan mee, then that’s only one thing, the Pan Mee Home made special chili paste. Then depending on your palate, slowly add on the special Chili into your noodle. For me, I usually add in 3-4 spoonful of it to make it fiery spicy.
This is my mini 3 spoonful before I add on further.
After a nice mix, then this is the final colour of my noodle @ RM 8.50 . Just by looking at it, I am hungry. Of course there is certainly a slight difference compare to the one that I usually eat. Spicy Kitchen Chili Pan Mee.
As for Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee, I find that the chili is less spicy, slightly more on the fragrant side, and with salty end. Noodle texture is about right, as they have its unique mouth bite texture which is like half chewy half soft.
If were to compare this Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee and Spicy Chili Kitchen Pan Mee, I would prefer Spicy. Just a simple fact more spicy and fragrant to my liking.
For those travellers who want to walk here, it is just about 5 minutes walk from the monorail station.

I remember back in the days when Super Kitchen was just getting leftover customers from people who can’t get into Kin Kin as it was too packed! Kin Kin did not do themselves any favors by having rather bad customer service back then, also quite a lousy seating area that was often too hot. Glad the scene has changed, I still like Kin Kin now and again tho.
call me heretic but i like jojo’s version 🙂
