How many of you out there are dessert lover? I am definitely one of them. I was introduce to this place by a friend who loves dessert that I should check this place out. Tanuki by Crustz at Taman Bukit Indah is indeed operating in a hidden area.
as you open the door, you are greeted with this nice garden style walkway that fit with rocks and cement slabs. Certainly impress with their ID for this place as the took out the whole building of 3 levels, break the top 2 floors to allow the natural sunlight showering through all the way to ground floor. The thing that I am impress with is that , they sacrifice seating area to give you this walk in experience.
therefore the place will be quite limited in seating. You will have to queue for your turn.
If you reach there, and see there is a queue, check with the cashier how does the process goes. When I was there, I was told to order first, then they will allocate me a seat upon the queue. My waiting time was about 15-20 minutes.
Their showcase of their masterpiece does look good. I wish to order everything but the price is da stumbling block.
These is what we ordered. A post birthday treat by my friend.
I quite like the cafe late as it is quite mild to my liking. The big let down was the fizzy drink behind. Did not pen down the name. They have 2 version of this special drink. One is the my friend order and another series is the strawberry series. Was told that this is a fizzy refreshing drink, turns out to be quite flat. Believe its sorbet ice cream and a little creamy to my liking. Just try out their other drink.
Among the two ice cream cakes, I personally like this more. Almond Pistachio Ice Cream. – almond sponge, crunchy base, meringue, chantilily @ RM 18 . Love the top layer of the crust as it is caramelize, very fragrant and those nuts are fried to perfection. Not too sweet but well balance. Follow by the ice cream where you get a hint of almond first then end with mild pistachio after taste. The base is perfect as it is crispy to my liking. At least 8 elements of flavour in this. Interesting as it is also a alochol ice cream cake. (it has mild alcohol taste in this which I cant taste it out).
Remark, do eat from top to bottom at one go to enjoy the bursting flavorful of it.
This is their signature ice cream cake. Mango Cheesecake – Cream cheese Ice Cream, Cream cheese parfait, Passion Mango sorbet, Mango cream and citron Sable breton @ RM 19. This is indeed very technical dish. Forgot to take a picture show you guys by removing one of the white temper chocolate.
A careful process of assembling and the last layer which is like the fragrant of mango is on the jelly mango covering it. a balance of sour, hint of saltiness on cream cheese in the middle.
Some of you asked me in instagram is it worth to check it out, my answer is yes! The flavour profile of each element that they have combine is quite prominent. A craft by itself to assemble each of these ice cream cake in a low temperature to ensure it does not melt. One of a good Ice Cream Cake dessert in KL.
Will be back again to try other of their flavours. I have also visited their first outlet – Xiao by Crustz in Section 17.
