I was asked to arrange a place for gathering and stopping my car at the road side and stroll across what cafe is pretty good and recommended, turn out as there are a few and I choose Basil, Le Bistrot which is a new cafe to me as it tucked within the heritage houses along Kek Chuan Road, opposite to Dolce Dessert Cafe. Read up some bloggers article, they also mention this outlet is actually a subsidiary to the Valerie Group, which owns a bakery at the Lower Ground Floor of Gurney Plaza.
There are many cafe around the island however, upon entering the outlet, I just love this simple, rustic heritage design ambiance. Steel made rack, wooden counter and heritage flooring just made it up.
Their bread is made fresh daily and its while stock last. Pretty well know for their Bagel and I am in love with their Pain au Chocolate @ RM 4.50. Lovely crust to perfection, slight aromatic buttery taste and chocolete comes with it is just the right amount. (sorry just forgot I did not take the picture)
Their dessert range looks pretty impressive too. .
Apparently, Penang is not as well known as KL for brunch menu, however I believe its picking up and if you are looking for a decent place for bruch, here is one of the place to consider as by looking at the menu, its not too expensive. (that will be down to their serving portion which I will drop by to try next round)
For this gathering, I just order coffee as I was pretty stuff with street food I had over lunch. Latte which is my usual order and it turns out to perfection, with silky smooth froth, love the taste of the coffee as its the mild version, not too acidic yet just perfect to my liking. After make some Googling, decided to try another glass with their signature which is Homemade Butterscotch Sauce Latte.
If you do drop by, here goes on their signature which I would say its highly recommended. Not too sweet yet the aroma of butterscotch is there did not overpower the coffee taste.
I did went back again for their butterscotch coffee.
Great to see all of you again during the past CNY.
