One of a restaurant that was introduce by one of my good friend Sue Lynn (BangsarBabe) , that we decided to come here for lunch since its one of her favourite. Restaurant Hong Ngek is one of a signature restaurant around this area which have a strong lunch crowd whereby the food are mostly on homecook recipe that runs by a small family over many years.
Parking here is a pain in the ass as the shop frontage is facing a main road. You ether have to find carpark around Chatime area or the one behind them.
If you do not mind sauna seating area which is quite hot in the afternoon if you are seated at downstairs, or you can have an option to be seated upstairs with air condition.
All our menu was pre-order in advance as BangsarBabe is one of a regular here. So we kick start with Herbal Chicken which is being cook to perfection, chicken meat is soft and not too dry, yet love the slightly thick herbal soup gravy that being cook along. Love the pungent taste of it.
Next is their famous Crab Meat ball, that is finely chopped , mince then deep fried. Eating it with their chili sauce is just perfect.
Another simple dish is vegie fried with “fu yu”. .
Fillet Fish Curry whereby fish is being deep fried for a while then went along into curry to cook again. Its a great dish to go along with rice as the gravy is not too thick, just nice enough for your mild spicy flavour with little sourish end.
This is certainly one of a super highlight for the afternoon which is BBQ Pork Ribs that is cook to perfection. Well caramelize, very aromatic and simply finger licking good. – highly recommended.
While craving for noodles, so end up with this fried glass noodle. Fried with ‘wok hei’ and for a simple lunch with coke, I am done with it.
Deep Fried Knuckle is another signature of this place. This is not the famous German version which I believe its a local version of fried knuckle already. Skin is crips, meat still moist and dip into their special homemade Mongolian sauce is just a perfect combo, finish it with sweet and little spicy end flavour.
I am certainly satisfied with this homecook recepi version place, although the price is slightly more than any average “Tai Chow” in KL yet its still worth to spend it.
