I have always thought that Hunan and Sze Chuan food is the same. That got me wrong as Hunan Cuisine is only slightly near to Sze Chuan cuisine where they serve hot and spicy flavour in their dishes. To enjoy one of a authenticity Hunan Food, Restaurant De Hunan (湖南湘菜馆) at Kuchai Lama is a well known place to many folks as they have been well known for ages.
These crowd are on weekdays, imagine it when it is on weekend.
Having Chinese Spicy food and TsingTao Beer is a must to be accompanied.
One of my usual order with be their cabbage. Light, and mild spicy where the cabbage is still fried to crisp.
This is not our usual ma po tofu that usually stir fried as I quite like their “Ma Po” Tofu In “Hunan Style”. Mild spicy and thick in flavour.
Sizzling Skewered Lamb In “Hunan” Local Style @ RM25 (small)
Chef Special Hunan style Sizzling Fresh Beef @ RM22 (small)
Baked Pumpkin With Salted Egg Yoke @ RM18 (small)
Hot Spicy Fresh Frog in Stone Sizzling Hunan style @ RM42 (small)
Deep Fried Spicy Chicken With Dried Chilli @ RM28 (small)
Indeed their food is great as they have some spicy level for you to choose. I would advise to those of you who could not take spicy, best advise to take level 2 and below. Overall, worth to give it a try as their price is quite reasonable.
